About Homecare Assistance

The Director's Journey: A Tale of Vision and Leadership of Homecare Assistance.

I was 7 years old when I started caring for the elderly. While I was growing up, my mom worked as a city
bus conductor and my grandmother as a street sweeper so they would meet people from many different
walks of life. Eventually, they noticed that there was a lack of support and resources available for the
growing elderly population in our community.

Since the love of God and service to others was a core value in my family, they decided to do something
to help fill this gap. So, despite our humble means, my mom and grandmother began preparing meals
for six elderly residents in our neighbourhood. After working all day and before eating our own dinner,
they cooked them big pots of food that my sister and I to deliver to them each night. We would happily
skip from house to house, excited to make them smile when we arrived holding their dinner! Eventually,
my mom also taught us how to make their beds, sweep the floor, wash dishes, and comb their hair during our dinner deliveries.

I continued to serve the elderly this way for the rest of my childhood years which laid the foundation for
the loving and dignified care that I bring to each client today. I take pride in caretaking; it is my world.

Wondering Why You Should Trust Us with Your Home Care?

Caring for elderly or ill family members can be an overwhelming experience. You want to be there for them, just as they were there for you, but it can be challenging to balance their needs with the demands of your own life.

The constant juggling act of caring for a loved one while managing your other responsibilities can lead to burnout. This emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion can take a toll on everyone involved.

However, there is a solution. Professional caregivers in non-medical home care have become a necessity rather than a luxury in these situations. They provide essential support, allowing you to take a step back and breathe.

With their expertise and compassion, they ensure that your loved one receives the highest quality care while giving you the freedom to fulfill your other obligations.

By entrusting the care of your loved one to professionals, you can approach your role with a sense of calm and love. This allows you to truly be present and give them your undivided attention when you are together. It’s a gift that benefits both of you, ensuring that your loved one receives the care they deserve while allowing you to maintain a balanced life.

Depression

One of the major causes of depression is loneliness or having nothing to do. Another reason for depression can be a result of suffering from other diseases that one feels powerless against. Healthcare professionals can provide advice and appropriate medications—and professional caregivers can provide companionship and activities that can help alleviate depression.

Dementia is a cluster of cognitive, physical, and social symptoms that interfere with daily functioning. Caregiving for clients with dementia can be challenging—but patience, creativity, and calm compassion can produce remarkable results.
